White people offend white people all of the time though. I think this is less about being perceived as being “offensive” and being “canceled” as a racist. Both are offensive but obviously one has different ramifications than the other.

But you are obviously right about tone, I’m just not certain we are being honest about the magnitude of the reactions for the offense.
