Interestingly enough, as Federal spending on poverty increases so does poverty. Or maybe this is nothing more than the bar moving with regard to how we measure it, either way its a recipe for spending quite literally countless dollars on these programs because of the moving goal posts. This is of course the crux of the problem. Poverty isn’t actually the issue, its the redefinition of poverty that is the issue. It’s simple really, politicians need a boogey man to rally their troops against.
