I love this.
Its always interesting how parents tend to discredit the opinions of non-parents on parenting because they “couldnt possibly understand” which to some extent is true, but they completely ignore their own biases as parents. The same thing holds true in many domains. People trying to lose weight never ask the skinny person how they keep weight off, they just assume its “natural” and always seek out people with the same problems for advice as if the person losing the same battle can offer it up.
Nice fun piece, thanks for sharing and you are 100% right about the constant hovering. Our children are in trouble, and its all because our parents managed to create a society where anything less than 100% vigilance is seen as neglect.
