Great piece. I’d be curious about your thoughts on why fascism is always the clear enemy but communism tends to get a pass. Fascism is clearly more hateful as it tends to focus on “genetic purity” and of course you have the Holocaust. Carrying a swastika earns someone a punch in the face, but displaying a hammer and sickle gets people pats on the back. The irony is of course that communism if responsible for far more human suffering and death than Fascism but I suppose its the idealized version of each that people look to. Communism claims to look out for the working class, Fascism explicitly protects those in some clearly identifiable group.
I suppose, Fascism is real and Communism is a religion. Communists can imagine a society however they wish because its nothing more than a dream state.
