Good question. To a progressive, when it comes to traditional religion, nothing is acceptable, however forcing people to buy health insurance is ok. To a conservative, health insurance mandates are unacceptable, but banning abortion and gay marriage is acceptable.

To a libertarian, the State’s authority should cover none of this and we should let people live their own lives.

At least one of them is consistent.
